With the temperatures rapidly dropping, holiday sales picking up momentum and, for some of us, snow accumulating on the ground, now is the time to prepare for winter. For many of us, this means investing in a warm winter coat, a pair of gloves and a stylish hat, but there is one important element that is often overlooked until you step outside. More often than not, it is your feet that is freezing! Below are tips on how to keep your toes nice and toasty this season.

1) When you’re walking from points A-to-B through brutal weather conditions, consider waterproof boots. Yes, they tend to be a little heavier and allow less air flow, but this will be the furthest thing from your mind when you’re trouncing through a thick coat of snow. However, once you’re indoors, consider switching to footwear that breaths and wicks moisture away from your skin, much like the Uggs found here. This will help keep your feet dry and toasty.

Over the years, we’ve heard a ton of different people giving advice on how to pack and yet it’s always a problem. Overpacking seems to me an unavoidable thing.
Some of the best advice I’ve ever heard (and promise next time we’re definitely going to listen to) would be…
1. Always pack a light cardigan and a bathing suit. No matter where you’re traveling to (a ski vacation in the alps or a tropical island getaway) a bathing suit takes up almost no space and there’s bound to be a hot tub or hotel pool. On the same note, even a warm climate may have chilly nights or over cranked air conditioners!

Now that my last runway article highlighted some of the unique and obscure designer looks, it is only fair that I also discuss the tamer, more wearable looks for Fall 2013. One of the items that is trending big this year in men’s fashion is the “overcoat”. Created from such luxurious fabrics as Merino Wool and Cashmere, overcoats can be a fashionably versatile piece to add to your Fall/Winter wardrobe. Given these choices of fabric, expect upcoming coats to be quite expensive - using a basic bank account, which typically doesn’t include an overdraft option, isn’t the best way to go.

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year. Couples everywhere will be enjoying extravagant dinners and exchanging loving gifts. The evening is sure to end passionately.

In anticipation of this big day, men and ladies work hard to find just the right outfit to wear. For women, they want to find the perfect sexy & sweet Valentine’s look – something that is a little seductive maybe, but lady-like at the same time. It’s a mix that is very appealing.
With temperatures continuing to drop, it’s time to take a look at your wardrobe to see if you’ve got everything you need to get through the season. This year’s menswear collections are packed full of new trends that are easy to wear, on the street and to the office, as well as being pleasingly functional too.
So it’s time to wrap up with the season’s essentials. You don’t need to splash out on a whole new wardrobe to get your look up to date. Just pick and choose from these major trends, all of which are easy to team with existing items in your closet.

The puffa jacket
Last year was the parka this year it’s the puffa. Designers took this look to new high fashion heights this season, giving the puffa jacket a whole range of innovative twists. From contrast materials and OTT styles, to slimmed down fits and traditional fabrics like tweed, the puffa never looked so good. As well as looking on trend, these jackets offer up superior warmth for the winter, blending functionality with style for a look that’s street fresh. If you don’t want to go quite as bold as the exaggerated puffas on the catwalk, try a toned down, smartened up version like this Voi Jeans herringbone number from BANK.

Ditch the denim
This season there’s a new tough wearing fabric in town, so it’s time to ditch the jeans. Corduroy was all over the A/W 2012 runways as fresh alternative in men’s suiting and casual trousers. Not only are they comfortably soft, they’re ultra warm too, making them the perfect choice for the cold winter months ahead. You’ll find them in a range of shades, from muted greys and browns through to eye-popping pink, so it’s easy to find a pair that’s right for you. Just make sure you stick to thin piped cords, which are easier to mix and match with existing items in your wardrobe, rather than thick piped, which can make you look bulky.
Suit up
As temperatures drop, you might want to think about upgrading your suit to a thicker fabric that’s going to give you better insulation. There was a return to traditional heavy fabrics on the runways this season, like tweed, flannel, and Donegal wool. All look exceptionally sharp no matter the colour, so long as the cut is right. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that bulkier fabric means a bulkier fit. A heavier-weight suit should still fit as slim and trim as any other in your closet. If you’re looking for some sartorial inspiration, GQ’s got a great guide designed to show you how to wear it.

The new look hiking boot
Hiking boots have been undergoing something of a renaissance lately. A major trend for the past year or two, this year designers have been giving us fresh new twists on this boot that’s ideal for winter. New materials, contrast soles, weird shapes and hiking boot/Wellington boot hybrids livened up the menswear collections. There was also a heavy emphasis on mixing and matching materials like tweed and leather, a la Aigle’s Cartwell boots.
There are a lot of men’s jackets out there, begging for you to buy them for the chilling winter. And a plethora of solid brands behind them: Blacks, Adidas, etc.But while many of them fit the bill functionally, not all of them work fashionably. Allow me to explain:

Check out this Adidas jacket for winter use. Now, I really like the Colorado Wind Jacket’s sturdy, high collar since snow tends to sneak in around my neck and that gets annoying. It also provides pretty solid protection from the cold and is lightweight. But it could use something else in the aesthetics department. Really now, repeating white Adidas logo patterns? Not exactly chic… I’m thinking that zipper will start looking dirty quickly too.

This Adidas Originals Trefoil Field Jacket, however, will protect you from the element while looking great too. The storm flap ensures comfort and warmth and the ribbed cuffs help prevent snow from getting into your sleeves. As for style, the solid-color checkers give the piece a nice texture and the tasteful logo and shiny clasps give it detail. And can you believe it’s 100% polyester?! Who said artificial could never be quality…
