Knitwear is a huge trend every single year and here at CEFashion; we’ve compiled all the trend reports from New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and all the AW14 catwalk shows around the world to bring you this winter’s most wanted knitwear trends. From the ever growing trend of folksy fashion to the return to one of the world’s most iconic knitting styles, we bring you the must-have looks for your winter wardrobe.
Chunky knits are really making a big impact this year. Think oversized cardigans, chunky cable knitted jumpers and huge polo necks which add drama to any winter outfit. Designers such as Prabal Gurung and Marc Jacobs have hit the runways with their chunky knit creations, displaying everything from knitted dresses to huge floor length scarves. Following on from the major designers at London Fashion Week, some high street leaders have also shared their chunky knitted designs on the runway, according to this report by LurchHoundLoves.com.
Stemming from the chunky knits trend, the cable knitting style is by far the most talked about of the moment. It can be seen in high street stores everywhere and was first influenced by big LFW and PFW designers, such as Mark Fast who brought together loud colours like cobalt blue and pillar box red with huge textures. This knitting style is one of the most iconic styles of the 70s and 80s and now the catwalk brings us back to a time-honoured winter wardrobe look.
Believe it or not, creating your own homemade knitting could be bang on trend for AW14/15. This fall trend was inspired by catwalk legends such as Diane Von Furtensberg and Rebecca Taylor at New York Fashion Week earlier this year. Think vibrant colours, folksy patterns, cute beading and vintage-inspired crochet. Grabbing a vintage knit and customising it or knitting your own kitsch design from scratch will give your winter wardrobe the complete edge. And if you’re an upcycling fan, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s now 100% chic to revive old, unwanted sweaters from your grandmother’s cupboard thanks to genius designers at NYFW.
Primary colours and vibrant colours are hot this season according to catwalk reports. But another colour trend that’s just as prevalent is the subtle use of soft, muted shades such as soft peachy pinks or simple nudes. Keep it tonal like Hugo Boss and Marc Jacobs at NYFW by bringing together a variety of cream and nudes to create a one-shade outfit that’s both subtle and elegant. To really give your all-nude look the ultimate edge, invest in high quality wools such as cashmere or 100% lambswool. Shop lambswool knits for men and women at Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
IZOD is a familiar name in menswear. It is a company that produces upscale casual clothing, footwear, and accessories for both men and women. It is also part of the larger Phillip Van Heusen Company in NYC. The original company name came from the Jack IZOD Tailoring Boutique that created bespoke shirts for men in London England. The company was introduced to the USA in 1938. You might be familiar with their iconic Lacoste Pique Polo Shirt with the crocodile logo, for which IZOD became very well known.
One men’s clothing item that IZOD consistently does well is the sweater. At Kohl’s, they carry two styles of IZOD sweaters that are very popular in menswear. First, is the IZOD ¼ Zip Pullover. It is a great alternative, comfort-wise, to a sweat shirt and a little more stylish. It is constructed of a cotton/polyester blend that is very easy care. In the cooler weather, the long sleeve pullover can be worn over a turtleneck, button-down shirt, or short sleeve polo. The stand-up collar can be left open or zipped all the way up for more of a “mock-neck” style. The IZOD pullover comes in black, navy, blue, red, and green, which at the price of $19.99 would make it a fantastic holiday gift for any-aged man in your life.
Next, is the IZOD Solid Sweater. This particular one is a v-neck style, which tends to be not as popular with all men, as the crew neck style sweater. It may be a more modern cut that doesn’t appeal to traditionalists. However, the sweater is a simplistic layering piece that can be worked into what you already may have in your closet. The “IZOD Solid Sweater” is designed in a fine gage cotton knit that will be less bulky than some other sweater knits like cable and fisherman’s knits, fitting more easily under more fitted garments like sports blazers and leather jackets.
This IZOD sweater at Kohl’s comes in twelve different colors, but if you are giving it as a gift, you would be better off to stick to more basic, neutral colors like black, navy, or charcoal grey. This v-neck style sweater is priced at $32.99, which is about average for this type of sweater, but it is designed for the type of guy who leans more toward the preppy style of dressing, so it may not be the perfect gift for everyone.
While getting ready to meet the fall, women start reorganizing their closets in the search for the best outfits to compliment them throughout the upcoming season. Designers say that no matter the day, the context or the job you have to do, it’s very important to look good, feel good and be trendy, even with the clothes you already have. The combinations and the accessories are this fall’s highlights and even female celebs know that. Here are some inspiring, trendy – chic outfits to turn you into a Hollywood superstar, no matter if you’re going to the office, spend a day out in town or attend a fabulous cocktail party.
The White Jacket
Together with the colder afternoons and nights comes the white jacket. This is one outfit that female celebs love to show because its versatility, it can go great with a light silk dress, stiletto shoes and a fancy belt around your waist, just as Olivia Palermo proudly wears. It can be accessorized for a day at the office and even for an elegant reception, depending on the jewelry and other adornments fit to the occasion.
