Even though we are headed into the winter season, designers and Design Houses are working on their Spring 2014 collections. Today, we are going to get a “sneak peek” at Banana Republic menswear for the coming Spring season.
First, is the timeless trench coat. This is a trench that is done in the ever-popular khaki colored fabric, which is equated with the lighter fabrics of Spring and Summer. It has the classic double breasted style and is accented with epaulets at the shoulders and cuffs.
Similar to the collection of Barbour jackets at Cockney Rebel, this trench’s material and exterior are designed to be water repellent, though I must say that Barbour’s waxed jacket approach will weather the April showers much better. Moving on, the look of column dressing with the white crew neck and trousers is softened with the grey marbled v-neck cardigan.
Now Banana Republic is known for its selection of natural materials in clothing like cotton, linen, and silk. For Spring 2014, they have also thrown in some texture into the mix with this crew-neck, Fisherman’s knit sweater. The natural color is a departure from the darker tones of Winter, as we transition into Spring and the lighter tone of the sweater pairs up well with the grey trousers shown or your favorite jeans.
Lastly, are two of the styles that remain popular season to season: The Safari Jacket and the Motorcycle Jacket. The woman’s safari style jacket has the traditional khaki fabric, along with over-sized brown buttons and trench-style belt. It is a casual, yet polished look. The men’s motorcycle style jacket is in the same khaki material, which is a departure from the “norm” in a style that is usually seen in leather, but the shoulder epaulets, large flap pockets, and slim fit help keep it well within the motorcycle style. Layer it underneath with one of these men’s designer t-shirts and you’re set to match the rainy days and flowering yards!
