Review of Structure Men’s Zip-Front Jacket
For menswear.
Now that the crispness of Fall is in the air along the East Coast, it is time to break out the outerwear. However, since temperatures still vary with some warmer spikes, you need a style of jacket that will keep out the chill and still be lightweight. At www.sears.com there is the perfect jacket: the Structure Men’s Zip-Front Jacket.
Constructed in the timeless baseball style jacket, the 100% cotton French terry fabric jacket feels more like a sweatshirt than a jacket. The Men’s Zip-Front Jacket is a knit piece of outerwear in a heathered charcoal material that has detailed seaming above the button chest pockets, around the pockets themselves, and vertical seaming from the chest to the waistband that gives it more interest than just leaving it plain. The black rib-knit waistband and sleeve cuffs, along with the mock neck style with full zip are the parts of the Structure jacket that are a nod to the vintage styling of the baseball jacket.
The big difference with this jacket is that it can be worn casually over a tank top or t-shirt with a pair of jeans, or it can be dressed up a little more and worn with a button-down shirt and a less casual pair of trousers. I can even see the Structure Zip-Front Jacket worn with a nice silk tie and dress shirt, which would take the place of a cardigan for a whole new, fresh look. With the cut of the jacket being close to the body, there is no bulk, so it could possibly also be layered under an overcoat and worn more like a sweater. Also, the fairly long and wide breast pockets can perfectly hold a number of small items like gloves or a pen.
For JUST $40 at www.sear.com , the Structure Men’s Zip-Front Jacket has style, versatility, and comes in a deep heathered charcoal color, which is still one of the hottest colors in fashion this Fall. The more pieces in your closet that can do double duty, the easier it will be to find that perfect look and you will be spending less money to do so.

Short Sleeve Polo Shirts: A Spring-Summer Essential
For menswear.
When you are thinking about what you need in your wardrobe for Spring and Summer, the Polo shirt should be near the top of your list. After this winter, everyone is dying to shed the coats and sweaters for something lighter in fabric weight and in colors that are uplifting to the spirit. The Polo shirt is a great transition piece if worn under spring jackets or cardigan sweaters, until it is warm enough to be worn on its own.
Polo shirts are essentials in your closets because there are situation of dressing where a plain, crew neck t-shirt is just too casual. The Polo shirt gives you the option to still enjoy the comfort of a casual shirt, but is dressed up with the point collar and the button placket. You can put a Polo with a pair of pleated shorts and flip-flops, or pair it with crisp linen trousers and a great pair of leather oxfords for two different looks.
Some fantastic Polo shirts can be found at Sears. For those of us who are old enough to remember “Sears and Roebuck”, they have a Roebuck and Co. Young Men’s Polo Shirt that is constructed of the iconic “pique” cotton knit, has a fold-over collar with a two-button neck closure, and a fitted cut with a split hem for comfort. It comes in several different colors and the best part is that it is on sale right now for $14.99, instead of $30.00 through 3/28!
Another brand of Polo shirt that can be found at Sears is the Covington Men’s Polo Shirt that comes in a classic, relaxed fit and a myriad of energizing colors to brighten up your Spring and Summer. This one is in a cotton blend, but still has the pique finish, the classic collar and button neck. It is also on sale for an astounding $12.99, so it is a great time to stock up!
Lastly, is another popular brand of Polo is the U.S. Polo Assn. Men’s Interlock Polo Shirt. This particular one is cut a little slimmer in the body and has more of a shorter cap-like sleeve, but still has the traditional styling of the Polo. It would be a great pop of color alone, or under a neutral jacket. Get your for $14.99 through March 28th also!

Do You Up Nice (8/4/08)
For menswear.
Today’s subject: Dave
(guy on the left)
Height: Tall
Build: Not fat, not overly muscular, but a little tub on the belly.
Self-identified personality traits: “casual, laid-back, yet professional”
Notable features: Roundish face, lacking that oh-so-desirable chin.
Price range: $200 - $250 USD
Well, Dave’s off to a decent start. He’s already privy to how brown is most definitely his color and he’s hanging out with women - good show old boy. His hair is fine for what it is…but I would get rid of the carpet on his chin and replace it with some scruff (nothing as intense as what Sawyer rocks though). What I’m going to recommend for Dave today is a single Casual-Friday business outfit whose constitutive elements can be used in other outfits interchangeably. Most importantly, however, I’m going to enlighten Dave as to the thing that will make him a goddamn fashion icon: a nice pair of fucking shoes which will eat up the bulk of his funds.
Casual-Friday business outfit:
David Taylor Dress Pants (i.e. slacks) - $19.99 (from Sears)
Classic polo from RL: On sale for $49.99
Belt from Brooks Brothers: On sale of $34.99
And most importantly..
These shoes from Shoes.com: Normally 174.99, but will probably be reduced to ~$135.99 on a Super-Saturday sale.
GRAND TOTAL: ~$241.00
Go get em guy.

Basics on Blazers
For menswear.
INFEASIBLE: Intense-colored blazers
Ugh. I pray this is a nugget of knowledge innately lodged in all men’s minds (masculus a priori), but for the unlucky ones out there: DON’T WEAR BLAZING BLAZERS. No reds, oranges, yellows, bright greens, shinny silvers, neon blues. Never cool.
Feasible: Dark gray blazers
I’ll let you guys in on a secret: As long as it’s not dirty or torn, and as long as it’s a dark color (black, navy blue, gray especially), and as long as it isn’t made of construction paper, then you’re set to go clubbing. Yes, one can discern a $300 blazer from a $40 one, but fear not o’cheap one since (and this is key) blazers are not the main attraction of your outfit. Rather, the shirt you wear under the blazer - whether it be a nice decal shirt (see below) or a silk D&G button-down - is what is meant to grab the eye. This is not to say the blazer is not important: it situates the shirt, provides a sense of layers, etc. It just isn’t there to turn heads. This cheap blazer from Sears would do you good.
