Our Favorite Beauty Products Straight Off the Runway!

For menswear.

Backstage at fashion week is always crazy! You have what sounds like 100 hair dryers blowing at once, a million people running around and a dozen plus models rushing to get dressed. However, if you can handle the chaos, it’s also the best place to see next seasons best beauty looks and learn about the very best products available (or soon to be on the market)!

We’ve rounded up our favorite products straight from New York Fashion Week!

  1. Zoya’s Naked Manicure kit

We were introduced to this kit last season and we have to say it’s definitely a winner! The Naked Manicure is a collection of products designed to heal and improve your nails. Your nails will instantly appear less damaged and discolored. However, the real beauty of this product is that over time it improves the condition, strength and flexibility of the nails! Our favorite product in the kit has to the be Lavender Perfector, a corrective coat which neutralizes discoloration! (Think of it like concealer for your nails!) The Naked Manicure system was seen all over runways including the always gorgeous Marchesa show.

  1. MAC Trend Forecast Fall 16/LIP

Featuring 6 shades ranging from deep beige to magenta-raspberry, this palette features all of the newest hot colors for fall! The palette was used all over fashion week including the pink lips at Carmen Marc Valvo.

  1. Kevyn Aucoin Luminous Foundation (coming soon to beauty.com)

Who doesn’t want to glow from the inside (or at least look like they are?) This foundation gives a soft natural gleam while covering redness and does a great job evening out the skin, for a fresh faced look, such as the one at Kate Spade created by makeup artist Romy Soleimani.

  1. TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done hairspray

A touchable hold is important when it comes to hairspray. No one wants to spend time styling only to end up with crunchy hair. Orlando Pita, lead stylist at Herve Leger created a “Romantic Punk” look which featured braids and twists on one side and flowy soft waves on the other. The look was finished off with a few spritzes of Perfectly (un)Done to lock it in place.

  1. Maybelline’s The Colossal Spider Effect mascara

For strong (slightly clumpy) eyelashes like the ones seen at Jason Wu, you’ve got to try this mascara which will be launch June. The lead makeup artist Yadim was inspired by “beauty, disrupted” and applied the mascara only to the tips for spiky lashes.

  1. Kiss Gel Strong Nail Polish

Kiss Provides the vivid shine and wear of a salon gel manicure, but takes the potentially harmful UV/LED lamp out of the picture. Lead Artist, Gina Edwards created a glitter fade mani backstage at Carmen Marc Valvo which is sure to last all week long (that is if the models aren’t required to remove it for their next show!)

  1. Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray

When designing the perfectly un-perfect low tight knot, such as the ones at Marchesa, a little texture helps keep strands from falling flat. This spray is perfect to add a little oomph and volume into any hairstyle whether strutting on the runway or on the streets!

  1. Morgan Taylor Make It Last top coat

Designed to do exactly what the name says, make your manicure last. We learned about this top coat backstage at Monique Lhuillier and it really works. We think a bottle of this polish is worth adding to your arsenal, if you’re not a fan of chipped nails!

  1. Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray

For polish and shine like the models at the Banana Republic presentation, this finishing spray is a must! It dries instantly and leaves the hair healthy and shiny! What more could you ask for?

The Perfect Autumn/Winter Looks For 2014

With each new season come new trends in fashion. This autumn/winter, you can make yourself look like you came straight out of the runway with a few makeup tips. There’s no need to go to the salon and have someone else do your makeup for you. With a few tools, materials, and tricks from the experts, you can have that model look that will make you stand out from the crowd this autumn/winter season!

Before you get your foundation makeup, here are a few perfect looks for autumn/winter 2014.

Dark lips

The dark lip trend is back and it is perfect for autumn. This look is perfect for a night out with friends or a dinner date with your significant other. Go for deep and dark reds. Use lip gloss with your chosen dark shade to get the impact of the color without appearing too harsh. Use lipliner to outline the shape of your lips and prevent the dark shade from going outside the lines. You wouldn’t want to be a hot mess during your date.

Metallic

Metallic shades are also in this season. It is best for parties, holiday gatherings, and even a stroll downtown. There are plenty of shades to choose from, but to look classy and glamorous, stick to silver, copper, gold, or bronze. You can use metallic eyeshadow, lipstick, nail polish, and eyeliner. Just make sure not to use all metallics at once to avoid looking like a clown. Events hints of metallic shades and subtle lines can do wonders.

Eyelashes

Fake lashes are trendy this autumn/winter. If you want your eyes to pop without using too much makeup, eyelashes should do the trick. Thick and long eyelashes coupled with the perfect shade of eyeshadow can make you look like a glamorous beauty queen. It also adds drama to your look. When using fake lashes, go for nude makeup to keep the focus on your eyes.

Neutral

For barely-there makeup, go neutral and use highlights and shades to add a bit of dazzle to your face. Emphasize your face’s best features using neutral colors and you will get a simple, yet classy look that will be great for an everyday look. A clean face will always look good no matter what you wear.

Color

Use a dash of color if you feel fun and flirty. You can play with different colors, but the best one for autumn/winter is blue in different shades. Some of the shades that we’ve seen on the runway include azure, cobalt, cerulean, and sapphire. Play with eyeshadows, colored mascara, and eyeliner. This can make your eyes pop, especially if you have blue-colored eyes.

Getting a runway look doesn’t have to be difficult. If you follow the latest fashion trends and research on runway looks, you can recreate the makeup and style of models easily. Research the best products to use and you will end up looking like a model. Follow trends that are perfect for your face, and soon, you’ll be turning heads wherever you go.

Make Us Blush

For menswear.

Summer is a cornucopia of colorful clothing. You have your brights and graphic prints, your mints and baby blues, and ever classic whites. However, for a ladylike twist on your usual summer staples, might we suggest: blush.

This sweet pink feels fresh in modern shapes. Adore the vintage feel? We found several options with a nod to the decades past (without looking outdated).

BCBG MAXAZRIA Solace Ruffle Sleeve Dress in crepe and organza is great for a wedding or an office cocktail party. The light color makes it appropriate for daytime affairs, unlike your favorite LBD, which may sometimes feel a little too harsh.

Being chinos makes this light pastel Steven Alan pant feel especially chic for the guys. Keep it paired with a graphic white tee and some leather sneakers.

French Connection Marquee Parade Dress is another stunning example of how to elevate and make a statement in such a soft color. This dress is great for a daytime outdoor wedding. We especially love the cut-out details around the neckline which perfectly balance the geometric print at the hem.

All-over lace can look like something you might find in your grandmother’s closet but with long sleeves and a short hem, this Rachel Zoe Libby Lace dress is anything but passé. We recommend adding a denim jacket for a casual day in the country feel or a gold necklace and leather jacket to add a little edge.

A sweet top in blush feels ultra feminine. Tinley Road Erin Silk top is semi-sheer with a cute back keyhole cut-out and button closure. You’re sure to feel girly but still like a grown-up.
