Every year, GQ magazine comes out with their list of the best new menswear designers in America. For 2013, this list included Paige Mycoskie for Aviator Nation, Matt Baldwin for Baldwin Denim, and Ernest Alexander for his line of “Made in the USA” men’s leather bags and accessories.

The first designer, Paige Mycoskie, is the Founder of Aviator Nation and has always had a passion for vintage t-shirts. She is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying the “surfer” lifestyle of Venice Beach, California for many years. Her claim to fame has been that her line of clothing has been manufactured in the same style and with the same kind of fabric that was used in the 1960’s and 1970’. This flying eagle blue and grey hoodie is a perfect example with the two-tone sleeves and body, with the abstractness of the eagle in flight. It is the perfect vintage hoodie for a casual lifestyle.

Another new menswear designer highlighted by GQ Magazine is Matt Baldwin from Kansas City. The “Baldwin” label is a brand of denim that is well tailored and shows Matt’s passion for a quality product with a modern, minimalistic style. His denim jean collection for men and women is constructed of the perfect weight denim fabric, combined with a sleek and unadorned modern style. I wonder how often the brand makes it into the retail display systems of national retailers though.

The third designer who was recognized in GQ for his accomplishments is Ernest Alexander, who creates a line of luxury leather bags and accessories that are all made in the USA. He started out on a quest to create the perfect men’s bag. A great example of Ernest’s quality craftsmanship is this leather overnight bag. The distressed olive leather body has golden zippered pockets, a bright blue fabric shoulder strap, and chocolate brown leather handles and attachments for the gold-tone hardware. It is a classic style bag, but rugged both in looks and durability.
