When it comes to warm weather clothing, you need to be able to reach for items that are constructed of breathable fabric. Natural fibers like linen are great at keeping you cool, while letting you look crisp and comfortable.
One great attribute of linen fabric itself is that it is supposed to have an inherent “wrinkled” look, which is great for those who hate to iron, although the wrinkles come naturally while you wear them, so you may want to give your linen clothing a “once over” or steam before you put them on.
One of the items that are one of the essential menswear linen pieces for summer is pants. These lightweight, casual pants are the perfect accompaniment to a cool tank top or t-shirt and flips flops. Linen trousers will give you the extra leg coverage that you want, but in the summertime fabric that you need. Many people think of linen in the traditional off-white color, but now you will find linen in many different hues, like this bleached denim blue color.
Linen shirts are also a “must-have” essential item for your summertime wardrobe. This cool and comfy gauzy-white linen with the half-button front placket and rolled up sleeves says “beach vacation” without even having to be near the shore, while this natural linen v-neck t-shirt has a more modern tweed/abstract animal print that would be perfect with a pair of jeans or chino shorts for an outside cafe lunch in the city.
If you are looking for something that is a little dressier in linen, but still has that great summertime feel, then check out this two-button natural linen blazer with the thin lapels, slit pockets, and button sleeves. This jacket is a great versatile piece that could be paired with either pants or shorts for the perfect summertime look. You can even treat your feet to some linen with these colorfully leather-trimmed linen driving mocs to complete you “easy/breezy” look.
Keeping it simple has always been a good fashion mantra, along with ‘quality never goes out of style’. Bearing these in mind, we think its advice that many should take on board when buying for the summer, especially if you want those summer fashion purchases to see you through to next year too. So what classic summer trends should you be considering this season? And what’s the best way to save money on these purchases?
Well, when it comes to money, the first thing you should consider is using the online voucher codes to save. Shopping in person is all very well if you want something there and then, but it also means you miss out on exclusive online discounts, sometimes up to 20% off new season items. In terms of classic summer trends, you don’t get more classic than Gap voucher codes – they can save you money on all those clean lines, preppy cuts and attractive colour palettes that will suit most wardrobes, and even if your personal style is slightly more eclectic then you can still benefit from those great quality denim and cotton pieces that you can dress up or down as you wish. But what about these classic summer trends then? Well, bearing Gap in mind, we’ve chosen to highlight a few key styles, taking inspiration from their own range…
Get the classic stars and stripes influence without going overboard – think casual but stylish baggy tees and vests, subtle designs, and all paired with the classic denim.
Linen in is this year, and we’re not just talking shirts and pants. Hop on board the linen train with maxi dresses, blazers and the softest of soft shorts too – all perfect for a comfortable, stylish summer.
It’s seems like an obvious choice for warmer weather, but how many of us are actually brave enough to buy white items that we can wear every day? Not too many at a guess. Maybe this is the year to go with the flow and feel light and airy with a loose-fitting white garment.
There’s nothing boring about sticking to classic designs – when everyone else is throwing out their own wardrobe items because there’s not in keeping with current trends, you’ll have plenty of great quality pieces to fall back on, season after season. Whatever your budget, there’s bound to be great quality, great value items available, especially if you search for online savings before you buy your classic summer garments.
INFEASIBLE: Hats with all kinds of colorful crap going on
Christian Audigier Men’s City of Angels Hat – White
(From Front StyleRocket)
First: I’M ALIVE! THANK YOU FOR READING STILL, READERS!
Now, down to business: Hats are never, ever the first thing you want people to notice about you. These days (yes, they used to be a fashion statement in the 1800’s), one uses hats for primarily functional purposes: to keep one’s head warm, to mask a bad hairline (don’t do this though), to focus others’ eyes on the FACE versus hair or ears.
Obviously then, Christian Audigier is doing something grievous by selling people junk like the above piece. Yes, psychedelic colored items is fun in concept (when high), but so is Learyean enlightment theory. Chris, please stop doing acid and thinking you’re cool enough to play with the designers who have real insights, k? Wonderful. Moving on…
Feasible: Faux-combat hats in gray, black, and dark blue
Linen Combat Cap-Grey
(Brought to you by Buy.com)
Be wary with combat hats, as with all hats. This piece is very simple and fits nicely on the top of one’s head without covering the face. MAYBE if you’re jet enough you could don a (just one) pin of your favorite indietronica or hipster band on the side, but otherwise leave as is. Also, no facial hair with this.
