While I happened to be out on the West Coast this week, I had the opportunity to check out men’s fashions in person, the so-called LA Style.
At Hermosa Beach, where we were staying, the dress was casual and sporty. The Strand, a walkway that runs alongside the beautiful Pacific Ocean, was home to guys dressed in cargo shorts with button down plaid shirts and slip on canvas shoes, to ones with board shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops. Even when the beach clubs and restaurants were gearing up for the evening, the sign that I saw which said, “No shirt, no shoes, no problem!” exemplified the casualness of the coastal style. I bet you could get away with wearing underwear – a great “exposing” pair being SAUL Homme boxers – at some of the really “casual” places!
Each season seems to bring slightly new or unique pieces of clothing to collections and although with denim the wheel doesn’t need to be reinvented, sometimes it’s nice to see something just a little bit different than your old standbys. If you’re searching for some fresh denim choices to transition into your closet, Levi’s jeans for men will have you covered. With both new styles and colors, they always have an option to match your own style and personal preferences. Whether you want to buy Levi’s jeans in New York, or are just searching online for a new pair, Dave’s New York certainly has you covered. Check out these three new options from Levi’s:
501 Shrink to Fit in Chalk Blue
This limited edition Levi’s 501 shrink to fit jean comes in a lighter-weight 10-ounce denim, making it a great option for the warm weather seasons. As can be assumed by the name, Levi’s shrink to fit jeans shrink when washed, so they should be bought a bit larger than what actually fits. For sizing purposes, if your waist is 27” to 36” add 1” to your waist size. If your waist is 38” to 46” then add 2” to your waist size. In regards to length, add 3” if your length is 26” to 34” and add 4” for lengths of 36” or higher. For jeans in New York, Dave’s New York has the perfect options.
501 Shrink to Fit in Mineral Red
For a bolder look, try the Levi’s 501 Shrink to Fit in Mineral Red. Sized in the same fashion as mentioned above, both of these jeans have a classic, straight leg fit, with a 17” leg opening. With a button fly and original fit that sits at the waist, the 501 fits classic through the seat and thigh. Levi’s jeans for men are always an easy option for spring and summer. If you’ve been searching for Levi’s shrink to fit in New York, Dave’s New York has many various colors and washes.
514 Tumbled Ray
Levi’s 514 Skinny men’s jeans are another great option for the season. Providing a rigid denim look with a stiff feel, and a clean look without fading, the fit on these is slimmer than the traditional 501 and 505 jeans. Currently one of their most popular fits, these combine traditional Levi’s jeans, New York style and quality sure to be trusted. The 514’s sit below the natural waist, and offer a straight leg with a slim fit through the seat and thigh. Finding high quality Levi’s jeans in New York City is easy with Dave’s New York.

Shoes and summer: The one’s inclusiveness and the other’s high temperatures can sometimes make for an uncomfortable combination. And not item of Joe footwear will suffice: Dress shoes can be toasty murder on your toes while the sandals option just won’t cut it for you spontaneously athletic types. A summer-oriented sneaker or boat shoe are probably your best bets for most casual yet potentially sweaty adventures. But not all of shoes are created equal. Let’s see how summer footwear can go right and, more importantly, go wrong.
Summer time is around the corner and once again a change of clothing style to fit the weather and general mood associated with the period is necessary. The warmth of the season provides people with a lot of flexibility in selecting outfits and most people take advantage of this warmth to dress with the least amount of clothing items possible. To help the fashion conscious or the average man dress fashionably during summer, a tip on the hottest clothing items and what accessories they should be paired with will be provided.
When going for footwear, sandals, open- toe shoes and flip flops should be the preferred choice. These footwear provide you with the necessary comfort and air circulation needed, they are one in varying orders depending on the occasion. For business purposes, scandals and open shoes are the preferred footwear because they provide you with a formal look while providing your feet with good air circulation. Informal activities such as block parties require the use of scandals while a visit to the beach should be done in your flip flops to avoid accumulating sand on your feet.
Pants and Jeans
The popularity of jeans has made it the attire for all seasons, summer jeans should be chosen with care and the details you should focus on are the cut, colour, design and fit of the jeans on your body. The cuts adequate for the warmth of the season are usually three-quarter cut which are jeans that stop at your knees or jean shorts. Making a choice from the two mentioned above depends on your height and how well built your legs are. Light traditional full length jeans can also be one during summer but one should avoid dark colours. The versatility of items that you can be worn with your jeans makes it a valuable clothing item, scandals, shoes and flip flops look perfect when combined with a good pair of jeans. The cut of a jeans also speaks volumes so always pick the right cut for the look you want to project to others, if you want a mature look a slim fit straight-legged jeans would be perfect for you while for a teenage look that signifies street credibility a baggy jeans should be your choice.
I have always thought of the designs of Ed Hardy when it came to t-shirts, watches, and leather jackets, but with this year’s move towards color and graphic prints for Spring and Summer, his unique designs are a perfect option for men’s swimwear. The intricately vibrant details that Christian Audigier puts in his tattoos are well translated into his line of swim trunks.
The swimwear is designed with a fly front closure, a rear pocket with a Velcro closure, and fabricated out of 100% polyester with no inner lining that will be smooth against the skin and dry quickly. These particular swim trunks are a longer length, board-short style, but Ed Hardy also makes a line of slimmer fitting spandex swimwear with the same great graphic designs. It’s just a matter of taste.
Alright, so you have your jeans, your shirt, and maybe your socks and shoes. Everything you need, right? Maybe if you only strive to be the background passerby in the next photo shoot coming to a street corner near you. Now, if you want to turn your white canvas self into a statement, you’re going to need to add some finishing touches to put the “you” in “unique.” Two undeniable trend setters? The hat, and the watch.
From a practicality standpoint, both items serve you a great deal – shading your eyes, containing a wild hair day, and keeping time (or letting time get away, whichever you can manage). But each piece adds a bit of mystery and indicates there’s more to the man than what’s seen at first glance. Besides hiding your eyes from sun, hats like fedoras add mystery with a downward tilt or a relaxed tone when in an upward direction like Frank Sinatra. When your face is the focal point of your personality, make sure it receives the attention it deserves by accentuating it with a hat. No need to be bright, but a speck of color, such as a pin or feather, can do wonders in turning glances from casual to desirable.
Started in Munich in 1932 by Willy and Maria Bogner, the globally known sportswear brand has since been passed down to their son Willy Jr. and his wife Sonia. The initial clothing line that was developed was ski wear, being that Willy Sr. was an accomplished cross-country and ski jumper in his own right. Their brand of sporty casual wear has now evolved into Bogner Sport, which encompasses clothing for golf, wellness, and resort wear. They even have developed the younger brands of “Bogner Fire+Ice and Bogner Kids” for you to be able to outfit the whole family.
