Since the wrap up of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NYC on September 12th, the fashion spotlight has turned toward London Fashion Week, which is scheduled from September 13th to the 17th. While browsing through the line-up of designers, I came across some men’s fashions that I don’t really see catching-on beyond the runway – except maybe at a crazed laser light heavy rave!
The first two looks are by Katie Eary, a designer who calls London home and describes her collection as “glamorous streetwear”. Her Spring/Summer 2014 duo here. which really asks to be presented with a display laser at a fashion show, is done in a monochromatic orange and brown animal printed polo-style top and matching pants definitely have the current trends of adding bright colors and prints to your wardrobe. But I can’t seriously see any guy that I know walking out of his house in any one of these outfits.
Another Runway look that I don’t see taking off is part of Agi and Sam’s collection for Autumn/Winter 2013, whose mantra is that “Fashion should never be taken too seriously”. It is such a miss-match of colors and patterns that your eyes don’t wear to look. The color blocked blue and grey zippered jacket is a little “too blue”, especially when paired with the drapery patterned yellow pants and the orange rubber covered lace-up shoes.
Last, but certainly not least, is a very unique look for Fall 2013 by JW Anderson, who attempts to blur the lines between male and female fashion with their new collection. Besides the dull beige fabric, the ruffled short-shorts and crimped riding boot toppers are just too much to take. I just don’t see any guy strolling around town in this shorts set.
