Hollywood had been buzzing with excitement the past few months about the 66th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards. The nominees are revealed before the actual ceremony by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for their excellence in the television industry. The week before the actual Emmy ceremony, the nominees are honored by pre-Emmy parties held throughout LA. One host was Audi.
On arrival to the Audi pre-Emmy celebration at Cecconi’s Restaurant in Los Angeles, there were some great red carpet fashions. First off, is “Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul and his wife Lauren Parsekia. He looks the total opposite of the meth dealer character that he portraits on the show in this grey tonal plaid suit, black button-down, and black leather oxfords. Aaron’s wife Lauren is a vision in this ¾ sleeve, silky gown with the plunging neckline and a high front slit. Her black leather clutch and minimalistic jewelry selection are the perfect accents.
The next arrival at the Audi party was Sarah Hyland, from the comedy “Modern Family”. She is ready to party in this white button-down with a pair of black wide-leg shorts, which have the look of a short skirt, and the peak of a lacey bra. Sarah’s loosely braided hair and studded black and tan leather sandals just complete her look.
Lastly, is a photo of actress Zoe Zeldana from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie and her Italian husband/artist Marco Perego. Zoe is looking fabulous in this silky brown animal print dress with the lighter contrast bustline trim and self-belt. She manages to swaddle her baby bump in terrific style. Zoe’s husband Marco looks suave in one of the trendy micro-print shirts in black and grey. He keeps his look casual by keeping the dress shirt un-tucked and rolling up the sleeves. Maybe it was to show off his new “ink”, which is a portrait of his beloved wife Zoe.
This past Monday was the 66th annual Emmy Awards ceremony that was held in the infamous Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Celebrities, who had been celebrating for the previous week at sponsored parties, arrived at the Nokia Theatre to honor their fellow actors and actresses for their works of excellence in the television industry. Just as in every celebrity event, the star gazers are interested to see what the celebrities were wearing, whether it be good or bad.
When looking at the color scheme this year at the Emmy’s, not only was red prominent, but white seemed to dominate the red carpet. One of the women in the stunning category was Sofia Vergara, from the popular show Modern Family. She arrived to the Nokia Theatre is a beautiful, curve-loving white gown by Roberto Cavalli. This strapless creation has a structured top that is accented with vertical shimmering lines and pleats that bring your attention to Sofia’s tiny waist, then follow over her hips to the floor with the seaming. It is the grown- up version of The Little Mermaid for sure.
Next, is actor and TV personality Mario Lopez. Even though some may hate him for it, it is almost impossible to make him look bad. Here he arrived to the Emmy’s in a basic black tuxedo with a crisp white dress shirt and white pocket square accent. Mario departs from the traditional look with his skinny tie, in place of a bow tie. He definitely would win in the handsome category.
The red carpet also welcomed a pair who usually fit in to the fashionable couple category: Actor Matthew McConaughey and model/wife Camilla Alves. Camilla joins the ladies in white with this beautiful, lacey cut-out gown by Zuhar Murad’s 2015 Ready to Wear Collection. Matthew, who is a devoted fan of Dolce & Gabbana, is wearing one of their tuxedos in cobalt blue with black accents. Normally, I am a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey’s fashion choices, but not this one. I can’t quite decide what is throwing me off, maybe not the right coloring for him, but his tuxedo looks too prom-ish for my taste.
September 22, 2013 was the 65th Annual Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The Red Carpet was teeming with celebrities as they filed into the theater to see who would walk away with the angelic golden statues for excellence in Prime Time Television.
Along with the choice of nominees, there were the fashion choices. Some were outstanding and some were not. The first couple up for critiquing is Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. Jon has departed from the usual colors of tuxedos with his cream colored jacket, but I don’t think that it faired very well next to his stark white tuxedo shirt. Now, as far as Jennifer’s dress goes, the bustline is one of the most unflattering shapes that I have ever seen. There is definitely too much “East/West” going on! The dark coral color can be pretty, but the mixed media panels don’t work either.
Next, is the “daddy and daughter duo” of Alec Baldwin and his beautiful daughter Ireland. Alec is looking classy wearing a straight forward style black tux that has an overall sheen to the fabric. With all the weight that he has dropped lately, the jacket could have been a little more fitted. Alec’s daughter Ireland is as glamorous and curvy as her mother Kim Basinger in that nude, high-neck gown with the “bling” in all the right places.
Lastly, are Lauren Parsekia and Aaron Paul. Aaron has a nicely tailored navy tuxedo with the thinner lapels and one button closure. Even a basic looking tux can look fabulous if it is cut and fitted well. Lauren is the perfect example of how sometimes “less is more”. Her gown is a gorgeous strapless with just a wonderful drape of taupey-grey fabric and no “bells and whistles”, but it is very figure flattering. Lauren accessorizes it perfectly with a silvery clutch, a statement necklace, and a loose up-do.
