Musings on Men’s Fashion – Review of Birds of Sausalito boxers

Here’s a confession: I run out of boxers all the time. I have no idea where they disappear to, or how a new pack of them only seems to last like a week. I guess I just don’t pay much mind to my underwear. And why would I? It’s not like anyone took the time to specially design a pair of Hanes.

You see where I’m going with this: believe it or not, there is such a thing as designer boxers. Birds of Sausalito makes two types of designer boxers: their Classic Fit and their Custom Fit. I had the fortune of getting my hands on a pair of Classic Fit, being curious to see how I would treat these versus the ones I get at Target.

I noticed some remarkable differences between my usual fair of skivvy and these Birds. For one, while regular boxers tend to ride up my leg, the Classic pair stay loose (but not too loose) and comfortable. For two, since they’re woven from 100% cotton, they’re damn soft and allow just enough stretching.
I also love the little details they put in like buttons on the fly. I don’t know about you gents, but fly’s always present a problem – a *functional* problem – for me, so I’m totally down with some exposure control in that area.

Needless to say, I treat Birds’ Classic Fit boxers much differently than I do my other underwear – I’m always certain to know where they are. It’s also nice that they come with a packing sleeve, which seals the deal for a pair of Birds of Sausalito being the perfect gift for men that take their linens seriously.
