Men’s Dress Shoes Trend – The Updated Oxford

When looking at the trends in dress shoes for Fall, I found that one style of shoe kept showing up in both men’s and women’s fashion:  the Oxford. However, what sometimes can be a plain lace-up shoe, has been updated with texture and color-blocking for 2012 and 2013.

At Famous Footwear, I found a nice selection of leather, dress oxfords from designer Stacy Adams that are well priced for the quality. She uses different textures in combination with smooth leather to create visual interest without too much contrast, so that it will blend nicely with your outfit.

One such dress shoe is an Ostrich and Patent Leather Tonal Oxford for $109.99. The sleek shine of the patent leather that is wrapped around the toe, heel, and up to the laces is accented by the stippled texture of the ostrich-style leather. The look of ostrich is hot this season in all types of accessories, including shoes. The whole shoe is detailed even further by the luxurious stitching.

Another favorite of mine is priced even better at $94.99. It is a black patent dress oxford with crocodile embossed details. The croco embossed leather is placed strategically on the upper rim of the shoe and also across the top of the foot, so when you are wearing trousers, you will still be able to see the combination of texture and shine. Also, the white contrast stitching around the leather sole is a great added detail.

The third style of oxfords offers a little more contrast than the first two pairs. This time, the deep brown crocodile embossed leather is in greater amounts along the base of the shoe, toe, and up to the laces. The accent leather is smooth and in a cognac color. Also at $104.99, this shoe offers a fantastic use of texture and color play for your suits and dress pants.

If you are interested in even more contrast, Stacy Adams has a similar style in black and white leather. So, for under $110, you can have a pair of leather dress oxfords that has style and right on trend.
