Jeremy Scott is an American Designer that was born in Kansas City, Missouri and studied fashion at the Pratt Institute in NYC. He started his fashion career in the 1990’s and was accused of creating items that “no one would wear”.
In 2008, Jeremy had initiated a collaboration with the athletic shoe giant Adidas for a line of expensive and outlandish men’s shoes. But like all outrageous fashion, there are still groups of people who enjoy thinking out of the box. It goes without saying: the shoewear Jeremy produces as part of his sportwear aren’t the fair priced and functional types you’d find at this Birmingham running shop. Anyway, to add to his resume, this past October he was just named as the Creative Director for the fashion house Moschino.
The first Jeremy Scott designer shoe from Adidas is the Tinsel Bear shoes. They remind me of the athletic version of the cutesy animal slippers that you may have had when you were young with the beige shimmery fur outer fabric and the Teddy bear who looks like he is trapped in your shoes, looking for a way out. I can’t say that I know a guy who would wear these and for $200, they would be a very expensive practical joke!
Next, is a style of casual shoe that has been popular with the “Hip Hop” set. They are the Wings 2.0 Money Shoes. With money being a huge theme in the Hip Hop world, the dollar bill print fits right in. Jeremy adds a few twists by replacing George Washington with his own image and embellishing the shoe with quilted wings for flight. These are a little more wearable and a little more expensive at $220.
The third pair of Jeremy Scott Adidas brand shoes is the “Instinct High Rainbow Shoes”. They are spot on trend with the rainbow colored, reptile printed leather and black accents. They are the most expensive pair at $350, but in my opinion, the most wearable. I could see these as a pop of color and being very stylish with your favorite blue jeans and a black cashmere sweater or t-shirt.
