Celebrity Fashion Trends – At the Tribeca Film Festival 2013

The Tribeca Film Festival is an event that was founded by Jane Rosenthal, Robert DeNiro, and Craig Hatkoff in 2002, in order to bring revitalization to the lower Manhattan area after the devastation of the city with the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center.

The founders had a vision for the general community to experience a variety of independent films, family oriented movies, documentaries, and short in a celebration of New York City film making. The event is attended by millions of people since its inception and generates hundreds of thousands of millions of dollars in the process.

This year, the Tribeca Film Festival took place on April 16th. It drew a host of celebrities that included Mira Sorvino, Robert DeNiro, Whoopie Goldberg, Robert Downey Jr., and Eva Longoria. Each arrived on the Red Carpet and at the Vanity Fair party in a style all their own. Take Robert Downey Jr. for example: He always manages to put a unique twist on a traditional look. Seen here at the premier for “The Avengers” at the Tribeca Film Festival, he is sporting a metallic woven sports jacket over a traditional white dress shirt and black tie. With his modern haircut and neatly groomed facial hair, he is always one of the stars that shine; no stereotypical “bad boy” leather flying jackets and the like for this sir!

Next, is a woman who has always marched to the beat of her own drummer, Whoopie Goldberg. She is a bright and vivacious woman, who has a tendency to hide under unflattering frocks. Her outfit for the Tribecca Film Festival is a prime example. Her grey textured dress billows over her body like a pair of badly hung curtains. The horizontal seaming brings your eyes awkwardly to an undefined torso and knee area. The blue velvet robe is a great rich color and fabric, but is horribly overshadowed by the dress. Sorry Whoopie, but the pointy “shooties” complete the “wrong-ness” of the total look. However, I do like long chain necklace!
