Even though celebrities try their best to put together a red carpet look that will wow fashion critics, sometimes their unique outfits get attention for the opposite reason. This month, there were many celebrities who flopped in the fashion department when it came to their red carpet arrivals.
First off, is Singer/Actress Kaya Jones, who arrived to the red carpet of the 2014 Grammy Awards in a spaghetti-strap, black latex gown with a plunging neckline, and sheer panels that went from floor to hip bones. Her ultra-platform stilettos and over-sexed outfit reminded me of an episode of Elvira Mistress of the Dark. I expected a gruesome movie to follow her appearance.
Next, is English Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is starring in the recent release of Godzilla. Aaron arrived to a premier of his movie in this Welch’s Grape Juice colored suit. I am all for purple, but this particular shade is just overwhelming in a two piece suit. I could see the jacket with some charcoal grey trousers and maybe a patterned tie or dress shirt to draw your eyes away from just too much purple.
Another, red carpet wreck is beautiful actress Lupita Nyongo, who walked the red carpet of the Met Gala in NYC in this full length, green beaded overlay with side feathers and coordinating headband, clutch, and pumps. It is definitely more of an artistic piece for the Gala and I like the colors, but sadly, my favorite part of the outfit is the brown mini, spaghetti-strap dress underneath.
Last, but not least, are Actors Neil Patrick Harris and Actor/Partner David Burke. They manage to take ugliness to a new level with their matching bolero-style jacket tuxedos with full length tails, flood-length trousers, and sockless feet. David Burke tries to jazz his up with the classic argyle pattern in shades of grey, but nothing will resuscitate these outfits.
