This past Wednesday, January 8th, was the People’s Choice Awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Celebrities flooded the red carpet for an event where the nominees and winners have been voted on by “The People”. The show has been held annually since 1975 and has recognized fan favorites in movies, tv, and music.
Usually, there is a kind of fashion theme on the red carpet and it was easy to spot one among the female celebrities: plunging necklines with prominent cleavage. First, is Malin Akerman, who stars in the T.V. show “Trophy Wife”. Her black and white abstract drawing dress has a halter style top with major cut-outs over the chest area. There is not much room for error in the probably “Hollywood-taped” placement and the dress is more of a distraction than an attraction for such a pretty woman.
The second person to jump on the plunging cleavage bandwagon was model Heidi Klum, who was dressed in a romantic floral Armani gown in black and silver. This one is more of a figure flattering style with the ruffled shoulder, gathered fabric at the waist, as well as the plunging neckline. I’m sure that she also invested a secure adhesive to keep any wardrobe malfunctions at bay!
For the guys, their fashion theme seemed to be conservativeness. There were lots of plain dark suits with simple yet noteworthy accessories that very well could have been from Harrison Brands. For example, Ian Somerhalder, who is an actor in the Vampire Diaries arrives on the red carpet in a dark navy suit jacket, indigo slim jeans, grey thin tie, and grey sueded lace-up shoes. It is understated, but works.
A favorite of mine was Eduardo Verastegui, a Mexican model, singer, and actor. He has a great woven navy suit with stitched trim, replacing the usual tie with a stylish grey silk scarf. It is a welcome deviation from the norm.
